About the Opportunity

Currently, BCCA is seeking a Compliance and Financial Operations Administrator for our Construction Apprenticeship Program. This exciting new province-wide initiative will partner small to medium-scale construction enterprises (SME) with future first year Red Seal Trades apprentices.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will support the BCCA accounting department in developing, implementing, and managing a funding compliance program while assisting with general accounting tasks and administrative tracking.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Accounting Department and program management
  • Assisting with the creation of a department wide quality control process for the funding agreement
  • Regular review of contract compliance and internal control processes
  • Maintaining a solid understanding of the funding requirements to assist with accounting entries
  • Compiling financial claims with the program management team
  • Reconciling bank, visa, and expense entries monthly or weekly
  • Assisting with financial monitoring requests to analyze expenses and provide completed support
  • Assisting with audit prep and testing documents
  • Tracking staff administration time

About You

To qualify, you will need at least 2-3 years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and/or financial compliance. Experience working with funding related to non-profit organizations would be considered an asset. 

Skills, experience, and background in the following will be considered essential:

  • Accounting standards (e.g., bookkeeping, etc.) and best practices
  • Evaluation and implementation of new accounting processes
  • Accounting systems and software programs (e.g., Syspro or equivalent)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to work together with colleagues to implement the internal controls
